Ashwagandha has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine. Some call it Indian ginseng. It has a calming and grounding effect which helps us balance out our body and as a result some positive "side effects" you may feel less stress, better mood, and more focused!
I came across this concept of mixing coffee with ashwagandha in a cooking class where one lady from Australia told me that this is what she started drinking in Byron Bay.
Basically you mix a Tablespoon of ashwagandha powder into your coffee and drink that in the morning. Both coffee and ashwagandha are natural ingredients so I thought no harm trying this out and ... I started to like this!
(This is ashwagandha chips, before its made into powder)
Ashwagandha has an earthy flavor that goes well with coffee and a slight sweetness from the root vegetables. Not a sugary sweet but a earthy sweetness.
The caffeine from the coffee is energy boosting but with the grounding energy form ashwagandha I felt that I have a steady energy flow that helps me focused and stay grounded. It was actually very soothing.
We do recommend that you grind the ashwagandha in small batches and keep it refrigerated after made into powder so that it doesn't oxidize.
Enjoy your coffee, people :)
a cup of your favorite coffee
1 Tbsp., powdered ashwagandha
- To make the ashwagandha powder, blend it In a high power blender. Add the whole jar of ashwagandha and blend it in high speed for about 1 minute to make it into powder. When the powder is ready, pour it back in to the glass jar and store in the refrigerator to avoid oxidization.
- To make the coffee, take about 1 Tablespoon of the ashwagandha powder and mix it in to your coffee with a spoon. The powder will NOT dissolve and will sink to the bottom of the cup and that is normal.
- Mix well as you drink and enjoy the benefits!
