The cacao is sent directly from the farm to our kitchen in Hong Kong and this is probably the freshest cacao butter available in Hong Kong. We get our fresh harvest every 6 months.
We shape them into small cubes for easy use. No more mess in your kitchen chopping up cacao butter.
Region: Single origin cacao from the village of Manyu in the Mungo region, Southwest Cameroon. The area is well known for its tropical rain forest soil which is the most suitable for growing cacao.
Who are the farmers: The beans are cultivated by We directly buy from the a cooperative of cocoa producers, who is known to have the best crops in the country. and the inspectors of the ministry of agriculture approve each batch.
*There are no children involved in the farming supported by the Sustainable Cocoa Initiative in Cameroon.
Supporting the local farmers: This cacao production is part of Cameroon's effort to develop fair trade to support the development of rural regions. There is no further distribution of the proceeds other than the straight payment to the producers.
Why it's good for you: Cacao Cacao beans are high in polyphenol and flavanoid antioxidants which makes it a high antioxidant superfood. This will help with boosting your immunity and also work as an anti-inflammation.
Just like coconut oil, cacao butter is a healthy plant based fat that is mostly saturated fats.
Suggested use: A key ingredient to make raw (or non-raw) chocolates.
Suitable to use in vegan baking as a butter replacement. You can substitute butter with cacao butter.
Also great for general cooking and frying. Cacao butter is known to have a higher smoke point of 370 °C (slightly higher then coconut oil!) which makes this oil suitable for high temperature cooking. Cacao butter is NOT sweet and will not effect the savory flavors.

I use a packet each time I make chocolate, so it's a little pricey in my opinion but maybe because I finish off the chocolates pretty quickly. They come in small hexagonal cubes and were pretty easy to chop up. I store them in my pantry and they didn't melt or anything (I'm not the most experienced baker, ok?). On another note, the Foodcraft folks seem very friendly and helpful, great customer service!
