Nitro Cold Brew Coffees

What is “nitro”?
These cold brews are all “Nitro” Cold Brews. This means that it has been infused the coffee with silky nitrogen bubbles giving it a foamy cascading texture and a real latte head.

What is cold brew?
Cold Brewing is a way of extracting coffee using cold water. This process is much slower than brewing hot, and because of that you will find flavors that are much more gentle, naturally sweeter and less bitter.

How much caffeine is in this nitro cold brews?
Nitro Black is similar to a double shot. Nitro Latte & Nitro Mocha are similar to a single shot.

Where does the coffee come from?
Coffee is seasonal, so at different times of the year we use different coffees. Origin info can be found on the batch of every cold brew. Minor Figures source their own green coffee and have full traceability over the entire supply chain. This way they can guarantee quality and sustainability.

Why do you package Nitro in cans?
Often the process of bottling leads to unnecessary carbon emission, by packaging Nitro in cans it enables to sell a product that is 100% recyclable and therefore has a significantly smaller carbon footprint.

This investment in packaging is very important to the company and is helping them to further build on their sustainable vision.

Do these products contain sugar?
These products contain absolutely no added sugar! The sugars in Nitro Latte, Nitro Mocha & Oat M*lk are naturally occurring in the oats.

Do the Minor Figures products contain lactose gluten or dairy?
All of the products are 100% plant-based and therefore dairy free, naturally lactose-free and free from animal protein.

To be labelled as ‘gluten-free’ products must contain no more than 20 ppm of gluten. The Oat Mi*k based products are not quite that low and while none of the ingredients directly contain gluten. Minor Figures cannot claim they are free from gluten.

They do however have strict requirements being careful to monitor and minimise contamination. Because of this, they are able to ensure that all of their Oat Mi*k based products contains less than 100 ppm (mg/kg per product) gluten from rye, wheat and barley. This means that they are categorised as being very low in gluten (containing between 21 and 100 ppm gluten).

Is the Coffee Fairtrade?
They work with a speciality trade model. It’s a pretty complex issue, but in short fair trade vs speciality are separate systems. Fairtrade is a way for guaranteeing minimum wage to the farmer – which is a good idea, however, Fairtrade does not relate to coffee quality. The Specialty coffee model pays a premium for quality. Although no certification process, and highly subjective, it does encourage farmer and roaster to consider longer term relationship based on continuous improvement, community, sustainability, and ultimately – quality. These systems both require continuous improvement to ensure a healthy and sustainable coffee future for all.

Why and where do you use stevia in your products?
A plant based sweetener from natural sources for a plant based company. Stevia has been used in South America to flavour drinks for more than 200 years. Stevia is calorie free. The plant itself belongs to the chrysanthemum family. We do not use it in all products. We use stevia plant extract in our brews to subtly sweeten and bring balance to our Chai Concentrate and Mocha cold brews.
