Originating in Greece, Rome, and Persia, luxurious Lavender oil with antiseptic properties, were enjoyed by queens and kings. Today, Lavender are a very popular item in bath salts, oils and other spa products. Derived from the Latin word “lavare”, when translated means, “to wash” or “to purify”, Lavender is one of the most versatile oils added to perfumes, balms, salves, lotions and soaps because of its sweet, flowery aroma. It is one of the most popular to aromatherapy fans for it’s calming, soothing effects and it’s medicinal benefits are shown to treat, pain, anxiety, fungal infections, hair loss, and wounds, making it an essential oil you want to keep on hand. It is also used to heal cuts, work for sunburns, help you sleep, keep mosquitos away as well as relieve nausea and motion sickness. Used as a mild sedative, antitussive, antiflatulent, diuretic, medicine for urinary and respiratory infections and antispasmodic digestive, you can simply massage your temples with lavender oil to relieve a headache. 

For sleep aid, place a few drops on a tissue and inhale or rub into the palms of your hands and inhale or just take a sniff of it right out of the bottle! You can also add a few drops to a spray bottle, mix with distilled water and spray this mist around the room.

Diluted with a carrier oil, several drops will give your skin and uplifting boost and may reduce sore muscles. Put lavender oil in hot water and use a soaked towel and use to treat muscle injuries or sprains.

Add a few drops to a candle and place on your outdoor patio for a mosquito repellent.

In a spray bottle mix a few drops and spray onto your clothes or skin as a mosquito repellent.

You can also add to food to enhance flavor, or add to water or even cookies.
